Last friday I spoke to Green Waste and they arranged to have a 40 yard dumpster delivered to St. Bernard for our flood victims. The dumpster will be delivered sometime this morning 1/25, around 10 a.m.
Please pass the word to only those affected by the flood. The dumpster has been donated to us generously by Green Waste.

Thank you for your Editorial in “As We See It” in this morning’s Sentinel, “Stormy weather no stranger” reminding us of past disasters along the San Lorenzo River, with a clear warning that the backed up waterways will cause future flooding. Efforts to keep the river channel from being cleared of fallen debris, silt, islands and growth of foliage are contributing to the danger.
You published my letter on Friday, January 8, describing the huge log jam dams in the San Lorenzo River in Paradise Park and most other waterways in Santa Cruz County and elicited many responses from other concerned citizens. The letter warned that flooding would occur and yesterday it did. Wednesday’s storm and the flood tide of the San Lorenzo once again highlight the need of clearing of the river’s channel. Hundreds of residents evacuated at Felton Grove, the result of a huge logjam damming the channel before it finally broke through and surged down stream into our Paradise Park community. We watched helplessly as the floodwaters rose, trying to surge past the jams in our stretch of the river. Homes were flooded and all emergency crews were working to minimize the danger.
We hope to gather a group of citizens in a grass-roots effort to reach the agencies whose bad judgment result in so much danger and misery.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.
.DAY ONE…SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT
RAIN WILL SPREAD OVER THE AREA ON SUNDAY. PERIODS OF RAIN WILL
CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY
PERIODS OF RAIN ARE FORECAST THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING. THERE IS
ALSO A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ON TUESDAY. LOCALLY HEAVY
RAIN MAY OCCUR AT TIMES. THE SOIL IS SATURATED AFTER A WEEK OF
SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL. THEREFORE…ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL RESULT
IN RAPID RUNOFF. STREAMS AND CREEKS ACROSS THE AREA WILL RISE
QUICKLY IN RESPONSE TO HEAVY RAINFALL. MINOR URBAN AND SMALL
STREAM FLOODING IS POSSIBLE…ESPECIALLY ON MONDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING.
